Q: Do I need a piano to take piano lessons?
A:
Yes, but a digital keyboard with 88 weighted keys and a sustain pedal may suffice. There are some excellent digital pianos available that would work, some which start at about $750.
Q: What age is the best for children to begin lessons?
A:
Anyone can learn to play the piano! However, usually by the first or second grade, a child's attention span and motor skills are developed enough to begin lessons.
Q: Do you offer any opportunity for performance?
A:
Yes, I generally schedule a spring open recital, and several performance classes throughout the year (More information is in my
brochure
)
Q: What method book do you use?
A:
Generally speaking, I use the Faber Series, but I do gauge a students aptitiude at the interview and will make a decision based upon that meeting. I may use Alfred or Hal Leonard depending on the needs and age of the student.
